Ports
Although Sheffield is not on the coast it
lies between the Humber and Liverpool ports, which provide ferry
and freight services to Ireland and continental Europe, and North
America
The Humber Ports - 67 miles (107km) from Sheffield - offer both
short sea trade links to Europe, Scandinavia and the Baltic, and
long sea trade links all over the world. Deep water facilities
with direct rail connections ensure maximum capacity and flexibility
for cargo. One million passengers a year pass through Hull on
daily continental sailings. Logistical planning can be maximised
by night time sailings, as well as inland waterway links to Wakefield,
Leeds, Nottingham and Rotherham.
