William Hill Bookmakers, operators of the country's biggest
telephone betting business, are set to create more than 200
new jobs in the North of England with plans toa new call
centre in Sheffield in January 2002.
The company already employs over 500 telephonists in two call
centres currently located at their Leeds headquarters.
Since the Government's implementation of a Gross Profit Tax
on the betting industry effective from 6 October, the UK is
set to become the global leader in betting and Hills are spearheading
that development with the expansion of their telephone business.
David Hood, Head of Public Relations at William Hill, comments:
"The new call centre is located in the totally refurbished Milton
House on Charter Row, Sheffield. It is equipped with state of
the art technology, ensuring the operators will be at the heart
of all the best sporting action from around the world.
One of the factors that influenced our decision to locate in
Sheffield was the support the company has received from the
City's Inward Investment agency, Sheffield First for Investment
and, in particular, its innovative JOBMatch service."
The new positions will receive full training, a variety of
working hours between 9am?11.45pm, good pay structure and genuine
prospects for development.
